Elaine Kim is an undergraduate senior at Cornell University pursuing a degree in Global and Public Health Sciences and minoring in Law and Society, Health Policy, and Inequality Studies. Her academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of public health, law, and policy. She is currently a research assistant in the Odoms-Young Nutrition Liberation, Food Sovereignty, and Justice Lab, where she works on co-designing and piloting a trauma-informed nutrition education curriculum with low-income families in New York City, in collaboration with Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).
Elaine also works as a researcher at Temple University, where she contributes to projects on patient-centered decision-making in pulmonary fibrosis treatment. She has also gained experience in government and community engagement through her role with the Philadelphia City Council, where she researched issues such as poverty and inner-city hate crimes to inform policy recommendations. These experiences have shaped her commitment to health equity and her long-term goal of pursuing a career in health law, integrating her interests in public health and advocacy.
Outside of academics, Elaine enjoys pilates and spending time with friends and family. She is also a dog lover and enjoys long walks with her dog Kylo.
