Dr. Dionne A. Taylor is a public health and laboratory science professional with more than 14 years of experience spanning clinical research, microbiology, and public health systems. She currently serves as Lead Public Health Laboratory Scientist in the Microbiology Division of the Maryland Department of Health Laboratory Administration, where her work centers on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance, advanced bacteriological testing, and data quality optimization in alignment with CDC and ARLN protocols.
Dr. Taylor holds a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) with a concentration in Infectious Disease and Population Health, as well as graduate training in clinical research administration and public health. Her research interests are rooted in antimicrobial resistance surveillance, laboratory workflow optimization, and the intersection of laboratory data with public health policy and population-level decision-making. These interests were shaped through hands-on leadership of statewide initiatives, including the ARROW Project, which evaluated thousands of carbapenem-resistant organism isolates across healthcare facilities to improve protocol adherence and reporting accuracy.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Taylor worked in academic medicine at Johns Hopkins University, coordinating Phase I–IV oncology and transplant clinical trials, which strengthened her commitment to data integrity, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered research operations. Collectively, her academic training and professional experiences reflect a sustained focus on strengthening public health infrastructure through evidence-based laboratory practice.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Taylor enjoys mentoring emerging public health professionals, community engagement, and spending quality time with family.
