Carley is pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management at the New School in New York City. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Culture from Occidental College in Los Angeles. She spent the first few years after undergrad working in the film and television industry before pivoting to the environmental field. Her current research examines the relationship between water, technology, and governance in the face of climate change. Her work synthesizes complex scientific information and academic theory into a clear and engaging prose. Prior to enrolling at the New School, Carley worked in both the private and public sector as a garden manager, horticulturalist, land steward, and landscaper. Carley had the privilege to work with over 50 community gardens throughout New York City. She is passionate about advancing climate justice and resilience, ecological restoration, sustainable land and resource use, and community well-being through research, policy, story-telling, and on-the-ground implementation.
