My name is Matthew, and I study Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at Denison University in Ohio. I was born and raised in a widely diverse Portuguese-speaking neighborhood in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I became fluent in Portuguese. My family is from Colombia, so I grew up speaking Spanish as well. Since then I have developed a love for languages. My academic subjects of interest include but are not limited to American and South American politics, civil engagement, social welfare planning, the history of science, and 19th-century Imperialism—to name a few. Outside of these academic interests, I am passionate about channeling my artistic energy through journaling, charcoal drawing, and through my electric guitar. Although I spend most of my time indoors, I am most content when I’m running at my University’s biological reserve.
