Lunia Oriol is a senior at the University of Michigan pursuing a BSE in Climate and Meteorology with a concentration in Climate Science and Impacts. Her passion for sustainability and community engagement stems from her experience growing up in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, Alaska. Lunia is an active volunteer for the university chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby promoting actionable climate legislation and a brass player in the Michigan Marching Band. Studying climate science while regularly engaging in environmental advocacy and local government has shaped Lunia’s interest in informing and engaging others about crucial issues from a nonpartisan standpoint. Outside of academics, Lunia enjoys playing music, doing puzzles, listening to podcasts, and studying food literacy.
