Lucia Winkeler is originally from Austin, Texas. She is a recent graduate from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. There she received a Master’s of Global Policy Studies and a second Master’s in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Her research interests include the following: U.S. foreign policy; U.S.-Russia relations; the Caucasus region; insurgency movements in Russia; national security; diplomacy.
During the summer of 202 she was a virtual fellow at the Monterey Summer Symposium on Russia hosted by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Lucia graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in international studies. After earning her Master’s degrees she plans to enter a career in which she can improve the state of U.S.-Russian relations and U.S. interests in the Eurasian region overall. Her non-academic interests include drinking tea, traveling, reading, and Pilates.
