Heejae Jung is a junior psychology major at Vassar College from Tenafly, New Jersey. As an avid writer and editor for Portrait, Vassar’s Asian and Asian-American literary magazine, she discovered her love for uncovering culturally diverse perspectives and creative ways to combat Americentrism. Through ACE, she looks forward to learning about international efforts to lessen global health disparities based on factors such as geographic location, socioeconomic status, and disability. She also feels passionately about the need to identify and treat psychological disorders at an early stage and hopes that one day, mental health screenings will be as common and widely accepted as physical examinations are today. In her free time, Heejae enjoys watching thriller movies, baking, and going on walks with her mini goldendoodle Rosie.
