Ethan grew up in the small town of Erwin located in the northeast Appalachia area of Tennessee. He is a current undergraduate at the University of Chicago with prospective majors of philosophy and mathematics with a focus on economics. Ethan developed his interest in foreign policy in Asia due to the complex environment of covid-19 and military conflicts that are impacting the computer chip manufacturing industry. Ethan enjoys debate and mock trial in school. He participated in Mock Trial for three years in high school which led to him becoming interested in foreign policy’s connection with government and legal systems. Outside of school, Ethan likes biking, hiking, exploring trails, and computer technology. Ethan is excited to participate in ACE and to help inform people with an unbiased presentation. He believes that increasing polarization in an increasingly globalized world makes it essential that people can find a source to learn about foreign policy.
