Daniela Canales is a junior at Boston College pursuing her B.A. in International Studies with a concentration in Political Economy and Development as well as two minors in Business Management and Philosophy. Originally from McKinney, Texas, she became interested in the developing world at a young age. From the damage caused by global warming to the economics of global poverty, she believes that investing time and research in the developing world is an absolute necessity to lift up marginalized populations. In the future she hopes to pursue research that leads to effective and moral foreign policy decisions. While in pursuit of this goal, she has interned for The Borgen Project (a nonprofit drawing attention to global poverty), joined a political violence research team at Boston College, and used a grant to pursue her own independent research on the impact of environmental policy along the Rio Grande Valley. Daniela is now joining the ACE team to explore more domestic policy issues and expand her reporting skills. In her free time she enjoys pottery, riding her motorcycle, and doing a daily crossword.
