Ben Shavers is a recent graduate from the University of Alabama with a BA in Political Science and Philosophy. He has a wide range of interests, but most of his research is in security studies and theory. While at the University of Alabama, Ben developed an interest in foreign policy and international affairs, specifically in the Asia Pacific Region, and he is fascinated by the region’s political history and culture. In the past, he has produced work pertaining to security engagement in Southeast Asia, international fisheries law, and cyberconflict.
Ben’s aspiration is to help contribute to a greater public understanding of issues in international relations and foreign policy, ultimately inspiring informed discourse and fostering a democratically engaged electorate. Ben has ambitions to go to law school and attain a Juris Doctor degree, after which he wishes to work in international law. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and playing music.
