Asiya Siddiqui is a student at the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Economics and minoring in Public Policy. At ACE, she develops policy briefs with a commitment to making the policy realm accessible to wider audiences. She is especially passionate about education policy, since education is a powerful tool for economic mobility. In the future, she aims to work at the intersection of law and policy to advance civil rights for every American.
Asiya’s interest in public policy stems from her early involvement in journalism and community service, where she observed how local and national policies directly shaped the lives of marginalized communities. She is currently a city government news reporter for The Daily Californian, covering city council meetings, community initiatives, and the impact of local policy decisions on Berkeley residents. Asiya is also a youth ambassador for the Salaam Food Pantry, where she oversees community initiatives that address food insecurity and economic justice.
Outside of her academic and professional work, Asiya enjoys reading historical fiction, experimenting with coffee recipes, and mentoring younger students in leadership development.
