Duaa is a senior at the College of Charleston pursuing degrees in Biology, Economics, and Political Science. When she started college, her academic focus was on a pre-medical track; however, it has since shifted toward a policy-oriented path, with a particular interest in childhood development systems and how surrounding conditions shape long-term progress in low- and middle-income communities. Through her involvement in leadership at the College of Charleston, Duaa’s most meaningful role has been serving as President of the Biology Club, where she develops programming on health-related topics, connects students with community partners, and provides direction to her team. She has also previously volunteered at the Center for Civic Engagement, where she helped develop curriculum surrounding policy and educational strategies to teach students about global topics they might not otherwise encounter on campus. These experiences align with Duaa’s long-term goal of working with rural communities in the Middle East, particularly women and children, to expand access to education and healthcare through policy-informed and community-based approaches. She is seeking experiences that strengthen her ability to connect research, implementation, and real-world impact.
