Guy Shefi, University of California, Santa Cruz

Guy Shefi is an Israeli-born undergraduate student at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is double majoring in Politics and History with concentrations in Comparative Politics and Europe & the Mediterranean, respectively. Guy has taken courses on several subjects, from political theory to the politics of conflict and identity, but is primarily interested in institutional design and party systems. He is currently finishing his Politics Senior Thesis on reform oriented coalition building in the United States, drawing from the politics of the Progressive Era and social movement theory. Regarding his History major, he is interested in the development of nations and nationalism and the implications of the Industrial Revolution. After graduating, Guy plans to attend graduate school and attain a Ph. D. in political science, with aspirations to research and teach as a professor. In his free time, he likes to cook, spend time in nature, and tend to his bonsai.
