Suzanna Samayoa is a sophomore at Barnard College, Columbia University, pursuing a combined major in Economics and Social History with minors in Environmental Science and Latin American Studies. A Honduran-American raised in rural Maryland, she bridges rural American experience with a global lens on poverty and inequality that informs both her academic pursuits and professional goals.
Suzanna aspires to work in international development, with a focus on creating and implementing national policy across Latin America. Her academic background is complemented by broad experience in social and environmental justice work. Proficient in Spanish and currently studying Portuguese, she is well-positioned to engage meaningfully across the region.
Beyond her studies, Suzanna is a Tenor 1 singer with the Columbia Kingsmen, the university’s premier a cappella group founded in 1948 — she is the fourth woman and second Barnard student ever to join the ensemble.
