Artemis is an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona studying Urban and Regional Planning with a minor in Africana Studies. Having grown up around Phoenix and being a current student researcher of urban heat she is deeply interested in the impact of the built environment on communities and the ecosystem at large. Being a lifelong Arizonan with a background in engineering has also fostered a curiosity in understanding important modern environmental issues such as green infrastructure, water usage, forest management policies, and the implementation of net-zero energy infrastructure. Through her coursework she has gained insight into how data and remote sensing technologies can help improve our understanding of ecological events such as river floods and forest fires. As a part of her studies on sustainable development in urban areas, she has sought to make understanding how to design human systems for long term environmental resilience a focus of her academic career.
